- What the heck is Pendulum Summoning?
Pendulum Summoning is a new mechanic in yugioh in which you can, during your main phase, you can special summon as many monsters as you want from your hand and/or pendulum monsters from your extra deck (how they get in the extra deck we will get into soon) The levels of said monsters must be between the blue Pendulum Scale of the Pendulum Monster in the left Pendulum Zone and the red Pendulum Scale of the Pendulum Monster in the right Pendulum Zone. Example" Left pendulum you have stargazer magician, Right Pendulum you have Timegazer Magician, left=1 right=8 so the monsters you pendulum summon must be between levels 2 and 7. If the pendulum monsters in the pendulum zones have the same scale or a difference of one a Pendulum Summon cannot be performed with them.
- How do I stop Pendulum Summoning?
Pendulum summons can be negated by cards that stop special summons, such as solemn warning and Rai-Oh, However cards like Rai-Oh that negate only one summon cannot be activated if the player Pendulum Summons more than one monster. Also Torrential tribute is really good for kiling their pendulums and punish them for overextending.
- What are these weird new monsters?
The new cards are called Pendulum Monsters. They look like a monster and a spell combined, and they have numbers on them which indicate their pendulum scale. Pendulum Monsters can be used as spell cards (by placing them in the Pendulum Zone) or they can be summoned regularly, should you be desperate enough. While Pendulum monsters are in the pendulum zone, they are treated as a spell card and this does not change until they leave the pendulum zone. While in the pendulum zone, the pendulum monster applies its pendulum effect (not its monster effect), also these are NOT field cards you cannot just activate a new one by placing it over the old one as you can with field spell cards. If you have two pendulum monsters in the pendulum zone that have the appropiate scale numbers, then once per turn during your main phase, you may pendulum summon with them. When a Pendulum Monster (even if it is face-down) would be sent from the field to the Graveyard, either as a Monster Card or Spell Card, it is placed face-up in the Extra Deck Zone instead ( this means you can exceed the 15 monster limit if your pendulum monster dies) If a Pendulum Monster is sent from the hand, Main Deck or Extra Deck to the Graveyard; has its activation as a Spell Card or Summon negated; or is detached, it is sent to the Graveyard like normal. If the Pendulum summon is in the extra deck, it can be summoned through pendulum summon, so long as its level fits the scales. That's the basics on pendulum summoning, any questions, concerns or feedback let me know | |
