missing the timing is pretty much when an optional trigger effect misses it's chance to activate...
well that's basically it, but let's get into what makes cards miss timing and what doesn't ^*^
(note: we will also touch on Segocs, but i don't even know much about them)

for our first example lets use "Meklord Emperor Wisel"
he has a "when ____ you can" effect meaning it has a chance to miss timing
... let's say you are using him in scraps and you use "Scrapstorm"

(effect; Target 1 "Scrap" monster you control; send 1 "Scrap" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, then draw 1 card, then destroy that monster.)

the last thing happening is the destruction of a monster, meaning you can summon Wisel..
/BUT/ if your opponent MSTs your face down "ScrapStorm" and you're forced to activate it as a chain Wisel will not get to summon it's self due to the fact MST will be the last effect to resolve in that chain and you cant tamper with a resolving chain...

next example: GearTown

lets say you activate a /face up/geartown and your opponent chains MST to its activation...
since gear town has a "when destroyed you can __" effect it will miss it's timing...
i'll explain why

chain 1: gear towns activation
chain 2: mst targeting gear town

how it will resolve is MST will resolve destroying Gear town, then gear town will try to resolve its field spell effect in the grave...
meaning the last thing to happen in the chain is gear town attempting resolve in grave, allowing no room for its
"when __ you can" effect to summon a monster....

next example is; gadgets...

lets say you normal summon "tin goldfish" and use his effect to special summon a gadget.
you can then activate the gadgets effect since it's the last thing to happen...

however, if you use "Goblindbergh"s effect to summon gadget it would miss timing

(Goblinds effect; When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand, then change this card to Defense Position if you activated this effect. )

the last thing to happen in that chain is Goblind changing into defense so the gadget cant search..

now for a segoc xD

a Segoc is when two effects can activate at the same with with out either one missing timing

i'll be honest, not 100% how these work but they do...

if you normal summon a gadget
both the effect to search for another gadget and the effect of "Kagetokage" can activate at the same time with out either one of them missing timing..

last example: E-Hero the Shining or most any monster that has an effect of
"when destroyed you can ___"

if you use Raiegki Break/Dark hole ect.. on the Shining, shining will still be able to activate its effect since it being destroyed is the last thing to happen in the chain

BUT if you use Soul Taker or Ryko on it the last thing to happen would be either
milling 3 cards or your opponent gaining 1000 LP (depending on which card you used)

sorry for the shitty grammar... hope this helps some one

Question 1: if you activate MST on a set Call of the haunted your opponent controls and they activate it as a chain (targeting light pulse dragon) ... would light pulse dragon gain its "when destroyed effect?

Question 2: if your opponent summons a Reborn Tengu and you chain MST to your set Torrential Tribute
then you chain T.T. to the MST, does Reborn Tengu miss timing?

sorry, i was unaware of that fact, but i think that if you are unable to cover subjects already covered you shouldn't be forced to make 3 lessons a week... there is only so much in the game you can teach..

That you are wrong on belac the game of yugioh is very complex and there are so many ruling situations its impossible to understand them all, thats why your a teacher. Also, between you and me its not like anyones gonna kill you if you dont do all 3 in a week...

okay... im just saying most of yugiohs rules can be chopped into 10 lessons, most after that would be talking over things that happen in every 1 outta like 20,000 duels

No it really cant, i mean you could ask genexwrecker and he would tell you the same thing(or at least something similar) : you cant simply explain all of yugioh's complex rulings in a mere 10 lessons.

what ._.

Let me give you 1 small piece of Just how complex this game is.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Rulings:Light_and_Darkness_Dragon

Over 50 game mechanics listed in just 1 card's ruling page. I could easily turn this into 10 lessons alone. There are about 6700 cards in the game. And these rulings are about the mechanics and how the differ between card interractions it does not even start to touch the mechanics themselves.

sailor, most of that article just confirms what is already printed on that card, it's just made to readdress the fact(s)

i mean yes, yugioh is complex in some ways, but you could be playing the game just fine with 10 lessons...
most of the game is written in black ink on the cards, and once you teach the basic rules it's pretty easy....
yes some things are derpy, but most the game isn't complex

and just breaking down cards like LaD into 10 lessons would just be stupid...

i mean 99% of people already know that sheit and it would just be boring to most people

while if you go really in depth on basic things people are most likely going to learn more

hell its probably better to just speak your opinion an the basics than it is to go in depth on LaD

this again is just my personal opinion, i'll do what you say, but i just find it strange

If you do not think the game is complex I want you to fully explain the battle phase to me.

okay, i had a long ass message about that, then my internet went down and i tried to post it... so i lost that message... so ill just post all the stages of it and not go into detail ...

1) start step
2) battle step
3) dmg step//dmg calc
4) end step

and the dmg step/dmg calc is broken down into 7
stages

1) start
2) flipping of face down monsters
3) before dmg calc
4) during dmg calc
5) after dmg calc
6) resolving of monster effects
7) destruction

and you repeat those 7 for each attack you make
...

this would be in one of the first 10...

"i mean yes, yugioh is complex in some ways"
"once you teach the basic rules it's pretty easy...."
i feel like that would be in one of the first 10...

The damage step is not broken down into 7 different substeps there is not such thing as substeps in the game. These are unofficial made up fairy tale steps to help explain damage step effects.

I mean basically it's listing what happens in the dmg step in order nether the less it's still helpful and yes yugioh is very very veery complex and situational ok so lets say there are roung 1000 normal types(probably way over just as an example) so around 5400 other cards thatr all have different effects so 5400 different outcomes and combinations such as well in math ways 5400*5400=29,160,000 different possible outcomes. Lets say every card with effect has 10 rulings on average it's a nice number so that means 54,000 different rulings
My reasoning for yugioh being a complex game

For some reason everyone is a teacher. This could be a cause of a glitch or someone messing around as admin.
